JANDAKOT
AIRPORT
792. Hon SIMON O’BRIEN to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Planning and
Infrastructure:
(1)
Has the government received any proposals from the owners of
Jandakot
Airport
to relocate general aviation activities to another site; and, if so,
what would be the future of the
Jandakot
Airport
land?
(2)
What is the government’s position on the future of
Jandakot
Airport
and the location of general aviation facilities to service the
metropolitan area?
Hon
KATE DOUST replied:
On
behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for
Planning and Infrastructure, I thank the member for some notice of this
question.
(1)
Yes. This government has been approached by Jandakot Airport Holdings
about a concept to relocate
Jandakot
Airport
. The commonwealth government, as the owner of the land, has not
clarified its position on the relocation of the airport or the future
use of the airport land.
(2)
This government is not convinced that there is a need to relocate
Jandakot
Airport
. The state government believes there is a case for retaining a general
aviation facility within the metropolitan area.
