Address
for a letter to the Minister and some dot points as discussed at the
JACC meeting this morning Tues 9th Oct.
We would urge all tenants and
stakeholders and any one with an interest in Jandakot Airport to write a
letter to the Minister as soon as possible expressing your view about
the unsolicited proposal from JAH to relocate the airport.
The below is not exhaustive but we hope it will give you some
inspiration.
Address to
Minister
for Transport and Regional Services
(Deputy Prime Minister)
The
Hon Mark Vaile, MP
Dear Sir,
Please keep it simple and in
your own words on the issues that affect you directly and in which you
have a particular interest.
Generally,
- There
is no sustainable business case for the relocation of Jandakot
Airport from its present and long planned location.
- There
are no benefits to the aviation community for its relocation.
- It
will be detrimental to the progress of General Aviation in Western
Australia.
- Jandakot
is the only airport in Australia that was purpose built and
specifically located in its present position close to Perth City as
part of the National aviation infrastructure.
- It
is placed on the important Jandakot water mound as a low impact use
and surrounded by semi rural special use and rural buffers for its
further protection.
- The
proposed relocation site is a further 40-50 minutes South of
Jandakot.
- Currently
more than 60 % of the users come from the North of Perth.
- Relocation
will jeopardize the very existence of an aviation business community
that contributes $3-400 millions per year and supports 900 jobs
directly.
- There
are important local environmental issues in the bush land that have
been established and are protected by Government that are in the
same danger as is the bush land recently “accidentally”
bulldozed at Perth Airport.
Matters of immediate concern.
- The
businesses on the airport are suffering financial and personal
stress resulting from the activities of JAH.
- The
continuing financial burden on the JACC which represents the great
majority of the tenants and is therefore funded by them is
approaching costs of $50,000 to date with a further $50,000 expected
to be necessary should this issue continue to be responsible for the
current financial and personal stress.
- The
JACC and tenants are very concerned that they should have to fund
their own protection against the actions of their landlord and
remain uncompensated, when it is clear the landlord has unlimited
resources in this regard.
- The
deepest pocket wins scenario is not appropriate for the stewardship
of a Commonwealth asset.
- The
addition of the 4th runway approved in the 2005 Master
Plan seems to have been abandoned.
- Public
statements by JAH that they no longer consider the Federal Govt and
community agreed 2005 Master Plan is valid.
- Concern
that the ARID facilitated consultation document and process,
unsolicited by the Government or airport community, contains
misleading, deceptive information and invalid conclusions.
- It
also and forms an impression that the consultation is a Federal
Government initiative.
- Despite
the incorrect nature of the matters contained in the Arid
consultative document being brought to their attention they continue
to disseminate it nonetheless.
- The
ARID consultative document does not contain any reference to data
sources nor any consultants input that is independently verifiable.
It is within the Ministers gift
to stop this whole thing as soon as he makes a statement requiring the
Lessees to operate Jandakot Airport under the terms of their lease or
risk a determination of it.
The regulations governing the
actions of or operation of airports by lessees against
the
needs of the region in which the airport is located; or
The interests of the airport users.
must be invoked and prosecuted.
We are attempting a
deadline for delivery of your letters addressed to the Minister and
delivered to THE Jandakot office of;
Deliver
to
AIRFLITE PTY LTD
37 Eagle Drive
Jandakot Airport.
by close of business Thurs
12th so that we may collate them send them as a single
package for the greatest effect.
