Tarmac Topics November 2006
The Committee, after wide consultation with membership, has decided to advise JAH that the Royal Aero Club does not support the relocation and wishes the airport to remain in its current location. This decision of the Committee was communicated to JAH on 24th October 2006.In the meantime we have continued our communications with the relevant Ministers and have presented a case that supports our reasons not to agree to a relocation of the airport. We have had discussions with the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs and have sought their assistance in raising with government the propensity of head lease holders at GAAP airports to become involved in development activities whereas the prime purpose of the head lease should be concerned with enhancement and improving facilities for general aviation in Australia. We would support an organisation that does show a genuine commitment to improving general aviation.JAH have asked to meet with us again and that meeting will take place on 25th October 2006. At that meeting we can do no more than reiterate the decision of our members that Jandakot airport remains where it is |
